So... I just realized that the week or so I'd like to be gone to go to NC and SF is the week before my boss is due to have her baby- and it'd be pretty lame for me to not be here then.

But, our office is so lax and cool about stuff.

Do I still ask for the few days off and see what she says, or is that just dumb and inconsiderate?

You have several good and legitimate reasons to go to Carolina: To support your team members, to see old friends, and to see family you don't get to see very often (me).

It certainly can't hurt to ask nicely. And I don't think any artists are going to starve worse than normal if your office is short handed for a few days.
