news in brief

Not getting as much done at work as I thought I might. I decided to buckle down and get some of these niggling administrative things done that I've been putting off, and who knew- that stuff starts to take a long time, and then, of course, is always interrupted by other phone calls emails and stuff. In a nutshell, I'm pretty busy at work but feel like I'm getting very little done. Dang.

During my moments of slack today, I decided that I never really knew exactly what the heck Turkish Delight is, and if it's really so delightful that it's worth selling out one's brothers and sisters for. Turns out that we *have* a box of it that appeared mysteriously at work. I can definitely say, in my opinion, that it's Not All That, and Edmund is decidedly a big dork. But, it is vegan.

Need to get going on the musics.

Don't wanna go to derby league meeting tonight.

Being in yoga again is good.

I tried to make turkish delight as a christmas gift to give out.

MY recipe would be vegan - don't know about in general. It was a liquid pectin based gel that was supposed to rolled in powdered sugar, but I might change to something a little less sweet (like coconut). First attempt failed, but I have not given up...

As a turk, I'd like to say that fresh loküm is all that, and that it's easy enough to purchase a new sole or two.

You're fresh.
Stay away from my soul, you and your vile pectin soaked nutmeats!

"Interestingly, while the confection is called Rahat in Romania, the word Rahat is also a slang term for excrement in that country. Lingering resentment for the Turkish rule may be the reason for this, but the origin of the slang use is unknown."

Oh! You said "soul"! I thought we were talking shoes.

Mmmmm..... pectin soaked nutmeats. I heart hazelnuts.

That confused me, so I assumed it was a misspelling. Where am I talking about shoes?

right after seeing the narnia movie i looked up recipes for turkish delight and it didn't look that hard, but it had some ingredients that i had never heard of.

we should make it sometime and then take turns selling each other out for some of it.

You weren't. I was being a smart ass.
