Had a very nice day yesterday. It feels like it'd been forever since I had a day off, as my Thanksgiving holiday weekend really wasn't one- I had thursday off of course, but had cooking to do and three feasts to attend, I worked on the biggest shopping day of the year all day, and the day after I moved all day. Then I returned back to work until yesterday. mmm, sleeeep in gooood... After lunchy goodness s4 went to ghOst for a while, so I had some needed time by myself and made some Christmas presents. Then I met s4 at ghOst and met some animation-people, hard at work playing a networked first-person-shooting game. The name escapes me but the goal is shooting nazis, you know, as opposed to shooting zombies or fallout-ridden creatures-of-the-deep or each other. (I did my time with first person shooters and have come to the conclusion that I can waste my time just as effectively doing other things. Anyway.)
Then we went shopping. I rarely go shopping these days, but somehow s4 makes this a really fun activity. We ran around Toys R Us playing with toys, ran around the computer store looking at computers, ran around the music store looking at gear (where I decided that yeah, the mixer I was thinking of would probably suit me just fine and yeah, I can get it for significantly less than retail. Cool.), and ran around the comic book store looking at toys and comics. Then we headed back, and I bought the ebay mixer before we headed to the Dinkytowner for Crossfaded. I hadn't seen it before, though I'm allegedly playing a gig there in a month or so. It's cool. Had a strangely burning-man-like vibe to it, which is always good. Some really cool dj sets and live drum and bass kind of stuff. Well worth the $3 cover. And I taught s4 to play ratscrew. Thoroughly kicked his ass, but he's getting better, especially for his first day.
Ran into Brent from the U at the Dinkytowner, he also is starring in the very production for which jodi is the lovely sound girl. Very nice guy, Brent. s4 has been noticing that I run into people I know All the Time. I don't really notice it when it happens for some reason. Well, I notice that I'm running into someone, I just didn't really peg that it seems to happen to me more frequently than it happens to some people. In the last couple weeks, I've run into three or four people I know from school and at least one old acquaintance (two happened to be at their food-centric places of work, where they also gave me or s4 free stuff of some kind. Neat!) I guess that's what happens when you spend five years at the biggest school in town, and have easily identifiable hair.
Today- another day off with errands to run. Also heading out to madison this evening to see That One Guy with Jodi and s4 and hopefully the couple with the same names.
