mondaymonday
Mar. 10th, 2003 12:29 pmIt's strange how the passing of weekdays and weekend days tend to blur when one has an ever-shifting schedule and nontraditional employment...
Today I'm granted with a day off I wasn't really expecting. Due to some weird political maneuvering I'm no longer board-opping at Park Square. I feel a little weird about it, and hope this was the best decision for jodi; after all, my working there was completely as a favor to her. (One I did happily!) It seems my not going to the arguably needed tech rehearsal worked in my favor after all, though, I got to take my first stagehand call since Aerosmith. Did the load out for Disney on Ice at the Target Center, and made back over half of the money I would have made in the run of the play in one night. I realized after-the-fact that my nicely worn and comfy work boots were not the best choice, as they have terminally bad traction and this job, of course, was full of pushing and maneuvering heavy things ON ICE. Brilliant move, spacebug. Fortunately, my grand wipeout on the way to the car filled my quota of falling down, and the load out went without any butt-bruising incidents. My arms and legs and back may be another story. As a side note, it's humorously incongruent to see large, grizzly roadie guys hauling out sparkly Belle and Ariel skate outfits. I was on the electrics crew; I imagine the sheer volume of massive intelligent lights and huge racks of black light would have made
djnoise drool with gear-lust.
Today I wanna make stuff. I wanna sew things or teach myself to solder things or bead things or drill things. Maybe I'll start by making lunch...
