geeky goodness
Mar. 25th, 2003 07:24 pmHad much needed sleeping in this morning, followed by running around for food and errands, including picking up my repaired sampler (yay!) and a trip to the sewing place so I can work further on the really nifty black and red cargo skirt I started making with
star5. I got a double needle and extra spools of thread so I'l be able to use the double needle, eyelets for the drawstring strings, and neat-o silver snaps for the cargo pockets that I decided would be cool to use instead of velcro. The extras for this thing are turning out to be expensive, but i think it will be worth it. Minor annoyance- The package of snaps is a package of 7 and I need 8, two for each of the four pockets. I only realized after I had bought them and left the store. You'd think they'd package stuff like that in even numbers. Oh, and I also got safety pins 'cause I seem to always be looking for safety pins, especially when putting drawstrings or elastic through a casing. Nothing else works as well and I never seem to have one.
And yay, I got my sampler back, after over 2 months! They were apologetic, apparently Kurzweil sent the wrong parts and had to be reordered or something. I can understand, I order for a retail store and tend to recieve around half of what I order most of the time. Despite the delay, I'd recommend EMI for people needing their sound gear repaired. Parts and labor seemed really reasonable compared to friends with similar maladies on the same synth, and the tech was really nice throughout the several conversations we had trying to fix the problems I was having- even had me bring in my hard drive to load in samples to try and recreate the problem. Better, overall, than the creepy vibe and spotted reviews I've heard from the Good Guys. (To their credit, they did a fine job repairing my prophet, I just didn't need the creepy up-and-down from the guy behind the counter asking, in a smoooooth voice, if
echoegami or I minded being called "ladies".)
Anyway, after much mucking about with power supplies, different outlets, disk formatting problems, several weird SCSI chains, and a reprimand on the horrors of hot swapping SCSI devices (oops), I think I have a functional keyboard again. This makes me veryveryvery happy. I only hope that it's not being good for five minutes to lull me into a false sense of everything being all right in samplerworld.
Tonight I'm going bowling. heehee. Take the dredheads bowling, take them bowling...
