yum.

In following my pattern of duplicate gear of those I happen to be working on music with at the time, I have purchased myself a $7 old-skool game boy courtesy of Ebay and some dude in South Carolina, and ordered my nanoloop cartridge so I may also make 80's-style bleepy loops. Order confirmation emails in German? neat. A fully functioning drum sequencer with 80's cred for under $100? yay!

Other gear of mine that has duplicates in various projects:
Kurzweil K2000 (there were 3 of these in my band for a short time)
Peavy PC1600 fader box
Prophet 600
Boomerang Phrase sampler
Tascam TMD-1000

This is nearly my entire rig, though I've since replaced the Tascam with the simpler mixer I like better. (it still needs a home... Anyone want a digital mixer? *sigh* I should give up and just post it on Ebay, already. hmf.)

Thinking of loops and gear and stuff, for those that don't know I'm playing out for the first time in a long time next month. L and I have decided to call ourselves Low Orbit, and we're playing Crossfaded at the Dinkytowner on Thursday, May 8, at 9:30.

Other thoughts, somewhat unrelated:

I am considering going to grad school within the next couple years to get myself a masters degree in electronic music. I'm not in a huge hurry to do this, just thinking about it a lot lately. I'm not sure if this is a wise idea or not. I don't know if I'm financially or mentally prepared for school again, or if it would be exactly what I'm looking for. It would force me to do something different with my life, which I'm feeling I need, but there are likely cheaper and easier ways to do that. A lot of this feeling is a want to go to a school that would be more in tune with what I want and what my interests are- so much of the U was a struggle and I regret staying there in many ways. I wasn't really allowed to study what I really cared about until my last year or so, and by then I just wanted to finish my degree and get out rather than fuck with the red tape, costs, and research of transferring.

If anyone has experience with or thoughts on this, please share.
