Had a superduper fun, short trip to Chicago. On the way back, one short discussion was had about the various parts of high-school-play all-nite cast parties (a list it was recommended we pass on to [livejournal.com profile] windelina. heh.) so, in the spirit of cheesy high school all nite cast parties, here are the SuperShort Chicago Run Mock Awards (chosen by me off the top of my head right now):

[livejournal.com profile] alisgray- The Hook Up. Thanks to her dilligent work as a *ahem* hard working employee of the Holiday Inn, our hotel stay was delightfully inexpensive. As an actual hard working employee of the Science Museum of Minnesota, our entrance fee to the Field Museum was dang near waived entirely. Thanks Alis! Alis also makes a badass car sammich.

[livejournal.com profile] eqe- This Van is Really a Sports Car. Eqe's driving panache kept us on schedule, and a huge-ass van from out of town showed up local traffic like nobody's business. Didn't think you had enough space to merge? Oh, think again. Think that parking spot is too small or that turning radius too tight? No way. Not for eqe! This van is really a sports car!

[livejournal.com profile] fayde- The Giggler It's difficult to believe someone when she tells you she's really crabby when she's constantly giggling. Battling illness, she showed no disappointment in not joining us in the smokey danceteria on Saturday night, and helped us all preen and look pretty instead.

[livejournal.com profile] birdfigment- Tetris Award figment can pack IKEA boxes just like tetris, and she can do it while sugar crashed and fighting off the grumpy bug. We could have fit another three carts in the back of that van if figment told us where to put it. Honorable mentions for navigation and restaurant finding.

[livejournal.com profile] abiku- DJ Abiku DJ abiku and his ipod kept us jamming along the whole weekend, and introduced me to some great tracks I didn't know existed from side projects of already obscure bands. I always find roadtrip soundtracks important, and it shouldn't be an overlooked luxury to travel with people with good musical taste.

And then there's my brother and I. Joe and I share The Morale Award. As two people most uninterested (or just too poor to partake)in the IKEA Shopping Experience, we found ourselves less worn out and crabby than the people trying to make it through the entire store on a crowded Sunday with teeming masses, crying children, and not enough sleep. We issued kind words and micro-backrubs to a group of travellers quickly growing annoyed of their surroundings and their companions. We got on the road, got some food, and everything was fine.

We had fun. Hopefully I will get this whole pictures thing figured out on WASTE soon, and post them there.
