Okay, I know everyone around Minneapolis is bitching about the weather, so this is a short one mostly for the MN bitching rights and for my Burning Man/Oregon- resident-friend Kitte, as I think I'm the only person in MN on her friends' list, and she was upset about weather in the 20s. No, above zero 20's! Right now, that'd feel like summer here. I found myself getting excited for a high of 13 next week. Sheesh. Breifly-
I like winter. I really do. But a week of walking to the bus stop when the *real* temperatue is -21 and the wind chill makes it feel like -40 (says weather.com, currently) is getting a icky, goddamnit. When I'd rather have crappy vending machine food than walk a block to the co-op for my lunch, it's really, really enough. (And Karlyn, I've had my glasses freeze the bridge of my nose, too- it's why I've been wearing my contacts all week despite having tired-eyes...)
At least my good-ol' not so special car is still a trooper and is starting everyday and getting s4 to work on time. Thanks Clyde! Someday soon I'll get you a bath and the oil change you so sorely need and deserve.
I cast my first sculpture project last night! Sculpture is lots of fun. I started my Big Clay Head and my TA told me it has a nice shape. Nice shaped Big Clay Head. I have decided that a big part of liking studio art class is being able to make a big mess, and I came home covered in clay and plaster dust. (I smiled a little inside, despite myself, at the girl dilligently cleaning the bits of dust that spilled on her jacket. It's not worth it! It's like playa dust- you might try for the first fifteen minutes before you resign yourself to the fact that it's just gonna get everywhere, and that's pretty much okay. Anyway.)
I'm so glad I finally get to do this- I've wanted to take more art classes since junior high, but it just somehow always got a backseat to music classes and band and stuff, even though it was always a favorite. It's acutally the only class I ever got an A+.
I took a picture. And I'd post it, except I have to start bundling up for the hike to the bus stop...
