S4 and I are spending yet another day off together being curiously domestic. We finally visited the oft-praised 7 Corners Hardware on 7th, as it's now our closest hardware store. Man. It lived up to all the praise and then some. We oohed and ahhed at the tool showroom, bought the $4 part our toilet needs so it will happily flush again, and headed down to IKEA so I could spend some gift card.

After navigating the IKEA crazy, we came home with curtains (but forgot our purchased curtain rod somewhere between the checkout and the car- Damn!) for our one window in the living room, a pot and pan holder thingy to hang from the ceiling above the stove (very nifty when one has only one kitchen cabinet), waste paper baskets, a rug that's too small for what I wanted it for, a little kid ladder-thing to mount on the wall so I can get up to my attic cubbyhole, and a silver shelving unit for my studio. And some blue shelfy-plastic stuff that we think would make more interesting space-clothes than shelf plastic.

The silly thing, is that we live in a Real Loft, which means our ceilings are actually too high for my favorite modular shelving system they sell to work where I want it too. Poop. It also means that the chains on the pots and pans rack are too short to hang far enough down from our ceiling for us to be able to reach the pots and pans we plan on hanging from it easily, so we'll probably have to go back to 7 corners hardware for some extension materials. Silly. And [livejournal.com profile] vaxjo, of course, just took his ladder home, so we don't really have a good way to mount it up there right now anyway. Oh well.

I have ~$40 left of IKEA fun money. I never found the rope swing. I think we need a rope swing to hang from our ginormous wooden beam, so swinging can happen in our living room.

Yes, NEED.

Also found out I will be getting a nice little chunk of money back from the gub'ment, for the first time in a few years, despite my union jobs and unemployment checks with no witholding.
That will get me a nice bit of the way to a hardware looper or a laptop. Or a car payment. Or a little trip. Or something. Yay.
