I opted to not take the weird breath-yoga this term. Instead I stayed home and played in my studio. Weird how I have to feel like I'm forgoing something else to get stuff done, but there it is.

If you're playing along at home, this means I've spent significant amounts of time in my studio plunking around with music for two days in a row.
After many months not touching anything that made noise without outside prompting, this is huge, people!

I've also decided that getting a laptop (which I've been planning anyway) may stem my gear lust for a while. (Maybe.) I've had the cash earmarked for one since my Mom sold my piano and I just haven't gotten one. I'm not exactly sure what I'm waiting for. I think I needed to feel like I was actively working on stuff in order to deserve it or something. Even though I've never, ever owned a brand-new computer, ever. The one I have now is from... uh... 2001? And was a hand-me-down then...

I've also discovered, belatedly, that Ableton can be a fabulous use for all that weird, interesting, sonic detritus on my hard drive. And like any good electronic musician, I have kind of a lot of it.

I think I'm going to name my next disc "sonic detritus". I decided that just now.

...I still find recording tedious.
But ooooh, hey, once I have *two* computers, my desktop could be dedicated for recording...
especially if I could scrounge a multichannel sound card.

Oooh. If I could record my fiddlings all at once *and* have separate editable tracks, what a happy little fraggle I'd be...
