As a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, one of the things that my workplace does is what's called acting as a Fiscal Agent. Mainly it's a way that startup charitable organizations can have an existing nonprofit handle their money for them and piggyback onto tax-exempt status to allow them to apply for grants and recieve tax-deductible donations either instead of or while they go through the often lengthy and complicated process of gaining nonprofit status themselves. It's part of Springboard's mission to foster new arts organizations, and we're the fiscal agent for about ten different small groups. A chunk of my job is doing a decent portion of the administration for them.

Anyway- one of the newest organizations that we do this for is called Rainbow Rumpus. It's an online magazine for kids with gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender parents. They just got their first issue up online last week. I don't think I'd normally plug something that one of these groups is doing, necessarily, but this one I just find... so unusual and so necessary. I've never heard of anything else that exists like this. It's gotta be difficult sometimes for kids who are different this way- hell, it's hard enough being a kid sometimes without having something like that to stick you out as different.

And I know a few queer folks with kids, too.

If nothing else, the dragon characters are really cute.
