Home again home again
Feb. 12th, 2006 04:36 pmMade it back to chilly St. Paul just fine after successfully navigating late-night BART and an eerily empty AirTrain. I surely am living in the future: I had private, pilot-less monorails with soothing synthetic female voices, indirect lighting, and scrolling LED panels telling me what terminal I needed to catch my flight. Had three seats to myself both there and back. The trip itself was very mellow and involved a lot of public transportation, a lot of delicious food, and completely lovely weather and company. Didn't get to see the show I wanted (wasn't worth going for the amount of time I'd have been able to stay before needing to rush off to the airport) but that's okay. Thoroughly enjoyed spending more time with my dreadhead California comrades. The three of us together garnered a lot of interesting attention by teenagers on the MUNI train (y'all are hellacute!), people in line at a cafe (Standing between you, I feel like my face is in a carwash), flaky hippie waitress at raw foods restaurant (your hair is like... the solar system...), and my personal favorite - belligerent drunk who also had dreads on MUNI bus yelling "nappy-haired muthafuckas!" Also got to spend time at the beach with i_heart_to___, and also got to thoroughly surprise her at work, which was fun.
I already miss my nappy haired muthafuckin' solar system, but was delighted to be reunited with a snuggly S4.
Now it's time to do all these things that I've put off, including belated email responses, getting tech info together for the Spark festival, getting music together, scheduling portraits, finishing my skirt, cleaning my house, and practicing poi before my meagre skills are completely dwarfed by my fellow solar system, if they aren't already.
