housing update, comedy benefit
Feb. 28th, 2006 03:02 pmCalled the new landlords to see how long we've got. The following conversation did a lot to imbue me with confidence about the whole thing:
"So, I'm a resident at 328... basically I'm wondering how long we've got."
"Well, when does your lease run out?"
"We didn't renew it, so it's month to month."
"Oh. Uhm... I think... 90 days? I'm pretty sure that'd be the soonest."
Uh huh.
So, for now, my operating assumption is that we'll be needing a place in May, and see what happens in between now and then. They're having a meeting this weekend to talk about the conversion- sounds mainly to be a sales pitch to everyone, but I'm planning to go anyway and find out what's up.
Went to Rachel's comedy benefit last night with Alisgray. It was very good. Five Man Job was hysterical. I can't imagine how nervewracking that must have been, considering they were improvising, and were the opening act for a crowd of people who had all lost a dear friend the day before. Kudos.
The Scrimshaws never fail to amuse, and I'd never seen Idiot Box before, other than some of the sketches from their DVD- so that was great, too.
Alisgray and Pied Piper came over afterwards (I got to drive Alis's little car! Yay!), the former to sober up and the latter to become less so. I was glad to assist where I could with both of these things.
Sleep felt restless. I squeezed my S4, feeling guilty that I should be so lucky to have him, hoping more fervently that he finds the strength to quit smoking sometime soon.
