Mar. 4th, 2006 02:29 pmI remembered about the meeting about the housing stuff today. The woman on the phone told me 2pm, that's what stuck... the letter said between 11 and 4 and to make an appointment, which I didn't. The letter also said Saturday, March 5th, so that's nice and confusing. Is it happening tomorrow because it's the 5th, or today because it's Saturday? So I went up to where people were supposed to be meeting and the door was locked and no one was there. I wonder how much they really expect the tenants here are going to buy their units, it's mostly poor artists and students from what I can tell- not really a big condo-buying market.
So- no further enlightenment on the condoization today. Oh well.
There are a lot of things I want to know:
Are you really planning to sell these off as-is? If that's the case, what do you plan to do about the fact that our thermostat control is in someone else's unit? How is it going to work with the phone box for the whole building being located in another completely separate unit? How about the weird electrical setup? How about the lack of soundproofing? What about the fact that our door is a hollow piece of crap and the doorknob doesn't fit into the hole drilled for it? If we'd buy this place, can we put in a caveat that you pay to punch another window or two? Are your association fees going to be worse than our rent is now, plus the fun of a mortgage? If we leave, can we leave anytime or do we have to give you the same notice as our lease says? If no one buys our weirdo space can we just keep renting it? If we do, are we at the mercy of your whim for showings?
This place is quirky. Quirky works for us, quirky is acceptable for an unusual space for cheap rent. Quirky works less well when we're tied to it.
I'd rather have S4 with me when we start asking questions, anyway. Maybe we'll try to make an appointment together this week or something. I'm still mostly assuming we'll leave, but I'd rather be informed.
blurgh.
