alone in the office, doot doot doot
Jun. 16th, 2006 10:50 amFriday stream of consciousness.
Posting mostly 'cause it's slow in the office. I could be doing work, but it'd nice out and I'm feeling unmotivated. My boss called to get a phone number (she's out today, helping her parents move) and joked about it with me, and suggested I not stay too long. I love my office. S4 is home today, so I think I might pop out and get lunch someplace outside with him. I'm excited that it's Friday.
The days seem to slip by really quickly, lately. I don't find myself wanting to do much but hang out at home. I feel the beginnings of my body wanting to be sick creeping in (Nooooooo!) so I'm trying to be good and stave it off with water and sleep and vitamins. And ice cream. And beer. D'oh!
I waste time online, looking for a motorcycle. There's an auction I'm watching that ends this weekend. We'll see. I still wouldn't have anywhere to park one, officially. I found a map and guide to contract parking in downtown St. Paul, but nothing really tells me if I can double-up with a wee hatchback and not pay twice. Blah. One of those little things I don't feel much like doing, but should.
We want things for the new house. We need to schedule a housewarming party, if for no other reason than to have an impetus to finish getting things the way we want them. Plus, I'm just really excited about our house and want to have people come over. I also don't want to start getting used to the boxes on the floor where they are. I want a new desk. Poster frames. Curtains. I did splurge and get myself a new rack case for all my music-y toys. It is full of awesome. It exudes awesome. I will no longer be carting around my mixer and my phrase sampler in scraps of polar fleece. Everything is portable and can stay mostly patched together. It's sooooo great. The rack case that housed my effects processor and power conditioner is also the perfect size for my amp, so that has a case now, too. Actually, it's not a splurge, it's something that my expensive toys freakin' deserve, it will make setup and teardown for any gigs eight kabillion times easier, it makes my studio setup much more efficient... just all around it's totally totally worth it and I should have done it a long time ago. So, yay.
On my expensive toys- I'm coming to the conclusion that my Ion really has to go in to the shop. The amplifiers have deteriorated something awful. I can't hear the poor thing unless I jack up all the levels to "THIS SHOULD BE MAKING YOUR EARS BLEED AND YOUR SPEAKERS SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT" kinds of levels. No good. So I really ought do that soon and hope to get it back before the con, in case I want to play a set... Blaaah. I guess I'll try to do that this weekend, and hope it's not too 'spensive.
I want more hours, and motivation to go along with them.
