Sep. 29th, 2006 09:22 amMany of the Rockits were not going to be at practice, so I decided to rest one out as well. My personal sense of justice makes me get more things done when I'm missing something I *should* be doing (I occassionally skipped class in college and justified that by finishing papers, for example.) So, instead of going to derby, I did about three loads of laundry- including folding and putting away!, I made cookies, I washed dishes, and I worked on the film score.
My right tricep- at least I think that's my tricep- is also still really sore from Tuesday. I was trying to figure out what that was from. It's the wrong muscle for push-ups, plus that'd be both arms. Then I remembered that we practiced whipping a whole lot. (For those unfamiliar with derby terminology, giving a whip means you hold your hand back to a skater behind you, she grabs your hand/wrist/arm and pulls against it while you pull her forward. Done correctly, you transfer all of your momentum and it gives that person a huge burst of speed. They can also be really fun, especially if you're smaller and you get a whip from someone really strong and have a predilection for yelling "Wheee!" when travelling at high speed.) Usually one whips on the outside, so I practiced that more, and now my right arm got a lot more of a workout than my left.
