art - work
Sep. 26th, 2007 10:18 amI got a lot of work done on an art project last night. I keep thinking it's "almost finished" and then realize that there are a few big steps left. But a lot of the problem solving part is done, so it feels more finished. But I think it's looking cool, and it's pretty different than anything else I've ever made, so it's been fun to work on.
I'm feeling myself much more interested in sculpture/installation/sound art than I am in making music these days. For the most part, I am allowing myself to work on the projects that I want to work on rather than the things that I am "supposed" to work on, which feels nice, and somehow more... right. Perhaps the death of my synthesizer is somehow symbolic. I'm not pushing myself to book shows/complete songs/mix an album until I get some other things done, and it's a bit of a relief.
I am still plugging away on the film score and our goal is that it will be done by the end of the year. I'm enjoying working on it but still looking forward to putting it behind me. I'm considering spending the money I have saved to press an album on visiting dangerdhotrod in Samoa instead, but that's very tentative. Will see how things shake out. I do still want to get an album done, but it's just become less of an immediate priority. I have an idea for an installation I'd like to do for the Spark festival, but curiously, I haven't seen their call for entries yet. Usually it's right around now...
