derby derby derby

So, I was all crabby on Sunday and kind of in a bad headspace about rollerderby and the time commitment and feeling like I don't matter anyway because I'm not on interleague and blahblahblah. Plus I was crampy and it was nice out and... anyway, I nearly skipped practice again, but I went anyway knowing the exercise would make me feel better and help me fall asleep after I slept in waaay too late.

I'm really glad I went, 'cause it ended up being really fun. We scrimmaged the whole time so that the captains could have one last chance to see the new recruits in a game setting before the draft tomorrow. I can forget when it's all drills drills drills that the game itself is really fun, and that I like to play it, and that (I hope) I'm getting better at it all the time. I had at least one jammer takedown, and the one time that I jammed I think I did really well. The Rockits' totally represented, too, our entire active skating roster was there, even Scarmen with her hurty knee. It was good to see everyone. I'm excited for the draft and to have a whole team again. Leaguewide drama seems to be in a downswing for the time being, too, which I will appreciate while it lasts.

I'm bummed out that I'm going to be out of town for the Madison bout. I didn't realize that until this week. That's going to be such a great game. But, I get to see my brother and figment, so I still win!

I was feeling the same way about derby (all I've been doing is admin which counts for nothing). I was contemplating quitting altogether. But Sunday made me remember why I love it.. I was cheering for you (oops on the yelling your real name) while you jammed. It was great chatting with you too.

And can I second the happyness with the lack of league drama!!!!!

It was a great time, I really loved scrimmaging. Somehow, I kept missing my scrimmaging days, so that was my first time to scrimmage since joining the MNRG's.

Sounds like a blast. Good on ya, for plowing through and practicing despite feeling crabby and unenthused. I admire your conviction.
