S4 and I have a Christmas tree! It's the first time I've had one in my own place. We've talked about getting one for the last few years and never got around to it. Because, well, Christmas is over now, it was super on sale. My mom picked it up and brought it over, and helped assemble it today. So it's a little late, but it will be up for the New Year. It has built-in lights, and all lit up it's really pretty, even though it's leaving glittery shrapnel all over the place which is kind of annoying. I think this is the first time I've had or bothered to make space for something like this. I spent some time today getting things out of our place that have been stacking up- our old couch is in the hall with a "free" sign (offer extends to lj people, if you want it please let me know!), other sundries are in a smaller free pile near our door.

I'm really really excited to have time off this week. Things to accomplish:
-Build more art shanty
-Get haircut
-transfer contents of old SCSI disks (Ugh, this has been a total fail so far...)
-clean the house
-sell/throw/give/recycle more stuff I don't want anymore
-have cable internet installed
-work on some other projects
...maybe try to get the car to a shop, it's been acting kind of dodgy lately. Meh.

Things I've already managed to do that are annoying:
-stop working out
-totally screw up sleep schedule

Ok. I should really try to sleep now.

What exactly are your SCSI problems?

I have an old 1GB external SCSI drive that I want to copy to something not-SCSI: external USB drive, cd, my current laptop, thumb drive, whatever. (Some zip disks, too, but I'm not sure of the contents and by now I'm willing to let them go.)

I took my old SCSI-enabled PC out of storage (running Windows 2000) got a SCSI-USB adapter as well as a USB zip drive on loan for good measure, and none of them have worked so far. The adapters and the usb zip drive don't show up not on my mac laptop, and not on S4's old titanium running tiger, either. In PC-land, while the SCSI hard drive and my external SCSI zip drive show up in my Devices (which says they're both recognized and working fine), they won't show up in My Computer as storage devices, so I can't do anything with them. I've tried re-assigning drive letters/paths, but it didn't work. There was one point when the both the hard drive and the zip drive showed up, but then it didn't recognize the thumb drive I wanted to transfer to, and after another reboot they wouldn't come back again. I think everything is functional and it's errors with drive assignments, but I just haven't dealt with SCSI or the microsoft side of anything for so long I'm just not used to troubleshooting.

This PC actually was what I originally used with all of these peripherals back-in-the-day, so they used to be happy together. As far as I can tell, everything is terminated and there aren't any ID conflicts. Bleh.
