Sure wish I could sleep.
s4 came down with a horrible fever after work tonight. Poor boy. And ill timed for me... I'm feeling the slightest off-kilter on the giving/getting attention scale right at the moment. I've no fears it'll right itself soon enough, what with the going around and coming around. I'm very very happy to be available and I like feeling needed and helpful and useful. But, I've also no problem admitting that some snuggling to counteract that off-kilter feeling would have really been top notch around the time I tried to start sleeping. Instead, my s4 is fully dressed, even with his hood up, wrapped up in blankets, and still shivering madly. I tried the couch, but it's too cold. And I can't rightly steal blankets from the feverish boy.
Love him bunches, I do.
One of my favorite books as a kid was Charlotte's Web. In that book, there's a point where Wilbur can't sleep.
Because, you see, it's nearly impossible to sleep when your stomach is empty and your mind is full.
Lots to do before New York, but very near the top of the list is some laundry.
[What year was it?]
Class of 1996. I was going PSEO at the community college down the street from my high school. This decision made me a much much happier human being.
[What were your three favorite bands?]
Don't really remember. Probably Saint Etienne, Suspect Bill, and maybe the Smiths. The Dead Kennedys or Operation Ivy or the Pixies are somewhere in the running, too.
[What was your favorite outfit?]
I wore a lot of baby-doll dresses with either chuck taylors or combat boots.
[What was up with your hair?]
It was Very Long.
[Who were your best friends?]
My best high school friends were Nadia, Renee, Thaad, and Lindsay. I was in a transition phase of meeting all my Minneapolis BBSer friends.
[What did you do after school?]
For most of high school, I had marching band practice.
[Did you take the bus?]
Nope. I was always friends with upper classmen before I got my own license. My brother and I shared a little grey honda accord that I still miss from time to time.
[Who did you have a crush on?]
I remember having a crush on one of the french horn players. We were both in hockey band, and since he only had one had that had buttons to press and I wore mittens, he'd trade me his glove. He passed a note to me in it once and I really hoped that meant he liked me. He was friends with my brother though, so that made it kind of weird. And then I started dating
vaxjo.
[Did you fight with your parents?]
Yeah. I thought my curfew was stupid.
[Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?]
I had a picture of the actor who played Ed in "Northern Exposure" in my locker. I don't know how "celebrity" that is. And I don't know that it was a crush so much as I really liked the character and thought he was cute and odd.
[Did you smoke cigarettes?]
I smoked one Benson and Hedges light 100. People tell me this is why I'm not a smoker today. I think it's more 'cause cigarettes are nasty.
[Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?]
No.
[Did you have a 'clique'?]
If I was a part of any, it was most reliably the band geeks. I was friends with a lot of geeks and freaks and stoners, too, except I never got stoned. I think they hung out with me on their off days, alternating when I'd hang out with the band kids, but we never talked about it.
[Did you have "The Max" like Zach, Kelly and Slater?]
Not unless Perkins counts.
[Admit it, were you popular?]
I had plenty of friends, but I wasn't "popular". I was teased plenty for being "weird".
[Who did you want to be just like?]
Dunno. I always thought Amelia Earhart kicked ass.
[What did you want to be when you grew up?]
I think I wanted to be a composer, or else play in the pit for musical theatre.
[Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?]
Don't know. I think my seventeen year old self would still think my apartment is a cool as I do, though.

Date: 2005-01-25 04:36 pm (UTC)I could tell S4 wasn't feeling well when we were sitting at the Spyhouse and he didn't even make a move for the smoking section. He even said he didn't feel like smoking.
