Blah. Trying to make music is Sisyphean today. I keep fiddling, but nothing gets done. It's really cool that I'm using all of these new tools, but it's frustrating 'cause everything's new and it takes longer to figure out how to do anything. Some distraction I like, but realizing I've been mucking about with the presets on the Ion for 45 minutes without recording or really learning anything I set out to learn, multiple times, is... well, I'm just hoping the fiddling will actually become some actual knowledge at some point. I'm kinda feelin' burned on manual reading. I hate it when music feels like the non-fun kind of work.

I think I need to do something else, like play DDR some more.

yeah, IKWUM on the music dragging when you have to spend all your time in the manuals. things were worse for me when i was always swapping gear, i'm glad i settled down a little. <3 lsdj :)

Presets on the Ion are ASS. Make a day of going through and editing them to be useful. You'll learn a lot more just goofing around changing things, and then when you're looking for something, you'll have much better options since you put all of them in there.

I've spent the last 4 months trying to get a good recorded guitar tone. don't feel bad about wasting a day here and there!

I know exactly* what you mean when you say some things feel more like work than fun when it comes to music. the precise instant I get that feeling I lose all motivation. but if I'm having fun I can put 40 hours into a song easy.
