Yesterday I dreamed that a barista at the Black Dog had found my lost car key. So I walked over to see if it was premonition. T, my favorite punk rock lesbian coffee slinger (who refers to me in good humor as "Trouble", which I find endearing), was working and she said they hadn't found anything. But she empathized and gave me a free cup of coffee, which was super nice. I checked my office and didn't find anything there, either. And then I took my motorcycle to Minneapolis and went along with my day.

This morning, I called the number on the back of the case for my courtesy key that says I can get a new key made for $8. That service has been discontinued, they told me, and advised that I call a dealership.

So I called the dealership where I'm fairly certain the car was purchased. They were really nice, and said we could have another key cut with proof of ownership (which could be an insurance policy and a matching ID, which I have!), a VIN, and $40. Excellent! Except that their key machine was broken, so I couldn't have it done there until next week, but I could call any other dealer around town.

So I called the closest chevy dealer. They said the same thing, except that a matching valid insurance policy wasn't good enough, they need the actual title. Which I don't have, because it hasn't been sent to us yet since title transfers are pokey and take two months or so.

So I called Roseville.

And they will do it for me.

And my boss will let me do that this afternoon.

So, after some hassle, $40, and a drive on my motorbike on a nice day, I will again be able to drive our car.

Neat.
