So, I like to do stuff while I listen to music.
And certain kinds of music help me get things done. I like listening to trance or punk while I clean the house, stuff like that.

And sometimes I think, before I sit down to do work on music stuff, "What kind of music should I listen to to help me make music?"

Hmm.

My weekend isn't over yet, but I'm guessing that the highlight is going to be:

"Okay, everybody, it's time for screaming in the garage! Come on down!"

...followed closely by having my scream complimented, complete with high five, by Hecate. I have as good feeling that she knows a quality scream when she hears one, for some reason.

Man, I've *missed* the dewb and my bandmate. Good to see them.

I really need to make music. Here's me, about to skip a concom meeting to sit down and effing do something about it. Go me.

Uh, so, if anyone trusts that I rock enough to give me a solo gig, I'd really appreciate it. It'd be really awesome to have an external deadline to work towards. I promise I won't suck.

I went and gave them a cd a couple months ago, actually. I didn't hear anything. :(

When I was in college, we had a week off to study for finals. The night before our exams began, the whole campus would step outside their houses and scream at the same time. Pretty impressive. =)

one thing I like to do is instead of looking to music for inspiration when making music, look to other media. watch a movie, read a book, do something that evokes an emotion using a different delivery method than pure sound, and use that inspiration to fuel your musical muse.

It was meant more as an amusing irony, as one can't easily simultaneously listen to music while creating other music (there may be notable exceptions to this, I suppose) which is different than if I'm painting or writing or sewing or cooking or doing anything else creative.

oh. I get it.

I mean yeah, I've written music while listening to other music, especially in trying to figure out how a drum beat works or something..but yeah, that's a pretty rare exception.

ho hum. the internets are too complicated for me lately.

Didn't mean to take the wind out of your sails. It's actually a really good strategy, creatively, to mess around with another medium you feel less tied to...

Yeah that was fun. Like how often do you ever get to scream your guts out (& record it!) w/ a bunch of other people? I went upstairs to get something and walked back down to hear what sounded like a freaked out insane asylum coming from the garage. That was nice. :)

The 6 day/2 city party has come to an end along w/ a long ass string of shows so I think I am ready to get back to work on making music for a while as opposed to playing music. Hehe. Rock on hard rocker!
