Why is the Ion so quiet?

It's tricky, since a synth with all of these parameters that can effect volume can very easily just make a quiet patch, but it really seems like it's too quiet across the board, and has for a while.

Um, You've checked the patch volumes in both the patch volume parameter (right-hand volume knob) and in the set-up output level parameter (pg 3, soft-button 1 under "edit part")?

Beyond that I know that among problems Ion users have had is the amplifier going south.

I usually end up putting the gain on my board about a quarter of the way up for the Ion.

Also under "edit part" you might also check stereo balance and output-pair balance (main/aux). Under the main parameters, you could also take a gander at where the patch is sitting with drive effect.
