The shop called.

After nearly two weeks with a car not starting that's included such misadventures as: a failed jumpstart in the rain; a seemingly botched/unecessary home repair done in a windy parking lot; a battery pulled, charged, and replaced to no effect; and a towing job in the snow on a holiday weekend that, were it not for roadside assistance, would have cost me $250 alone; the diagnosis is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Betsy Bean- not even with the wonky-shifting-in-low-gear thing she likes to do- and that her worst troubles were a noisy belt and a loose battery terminal.

I am equal parts pleased and mystified.

With all the money we saved on this "repair", perhaps we'll get that shimmy on the honda looked at and fix the no-windshield-washer-fluid-spray issue...

Hey, I had car weirdness like that once too. Everything fine, except in heavy rain my little Colt would die. The alternater (sp?) cap/cover was loose, so water would get in it and the battery wouldn't charge and the engine would kill. And then when it dried out everything was fine. The cover wasn't obviously loose, either, so it was tricky to figure out.

Hopefully its just fine, but the situation seemed a touch similar so I thought I'd mention it.
