Gotten a few hours of half-sleep. My body wants more but I'm hungry and my head hurts- so I think it needs food more than sleep now. I'll see that we can do about that. Feel bad for S4, he's been enduring retail for the last hour. I think he packed up at the party at 5am. I followed around 6.
So, yeah, good party. Thanks to everyone who came. I hope noise breaks even on the affair. There didn't quite seem to be as many people as last year to me, but I think there were more cycles of people who left and were replaced by other people coming from other parties. I'll be interested to hear how the door did.
I was in something of a bizarre headspace- not a good mood and not a bad mood, but just kind of there. I did have many very rewarding short interactions with complete strangers, many who just came up to me (I don't know exactly how or why they knew I was part of the party crew- maybe my crazy outfit, as I didn't have my access pass with me for a lot of the latter part of the night) and just shook my hand and said thank you. Seriously, that simple thing is so incredibly rewarding. I had one woman who was so excited about the setup when she walked in, and asked us if we were Burners, how she was so excited because the guy she was with has never been out to the desert and it was like having a little piece of it to show him before he goes. What a wonderful compliment that was. And also the guy who, without elaboration, told me how he'd had a really hard night that night. And I said "Well, I hope this made it a little better." To which he looked around, somewhat dazed, nodding, and said "Yeah. This... this is like coming home, you know?"
Firedancing at midnight, again, was a highlight- especially 'cause this year I got to do it with miss apricot.
People who showed up later were asking me how my music set went. I honestly really don't know. It was difficult to hear with the mainroom sound bleed, and people said it could have been louder. The cover of Velouria I played that was meant as a surprise for star5 was missed because she got swept away to cover the door- and a few others who'd planned on catching my set missed it. Ah, well. So, I played, and it went fine- people stayed in the room and they applauded copiously when I was finished- so, Good? it went well? If anyone caught it and has feedback, honestly, I'd love some...
So..
I'm ready for a new year. I'm definitely not ready for derby practice.
And I'm most ready for some fooooooood. But that means I have to put something other than pyjamas on, I suppose.
