apple butter peanut butter
Aug. 19th, 2004 03:59 pmSo yesterday, Chris called to say he'd be late getting into the office because he had to drop off his homemade apple butter to the State Fair first.
Really.
Not only that, he says he's the one responsible for reintroducing an apple butter category to the jams and jellies selections at the Fair. Despite this, he says he's never won a ribbon, claiming that his aren't as sweet as most Minnesotans like, and taste a little strange since he makes them using french wine instead of apple cider vinegar. (Importing French wine is what he does when he's not busy helping people try to make a living making art, busy making apple butter, or busy being a minor punk rock celebrity.) Apparently the wine people he knows in France like it better than the Fair people do here, and he really makes it more for them.
All the talk about apple butter made me need to make myself an apple butter peanut butter sammich with potato bread for lunch today. (I looooove apple butter.) He seemed very pleased that his hobby had that effect on me.
The other Artist Services person, Kathleen, just showed me picture of work of hers that got published in a magazine, a completely amazing pair of lace gloves sewn in such a way that the bones of the hands are built into the design. I told her about one of the costumes I made for Burning Man.
Anyway. I like working here.
