Hooray, SNOW!
Jan. 21st, 2005 06:36 pmFinally. Sheesh. And it's the great kind of snow- the fluffy sparkly kind that muffles all the city noise. Ah, nice to remember that I like this kind of thing. I like it better 'cause I don't drive to work anymore, though. And it's nice that the cold snap finally broke- man it feels weird when your nose gets all crystalized when you breathe in. But, like many Minnesotans, I find a strange masochistic glee in the nosehair-crystalization as part of my yearly experience. And the cold bothered me a lot less this year, which I'm attributing pretty much completely on the fact that I spent a lot less time waiting for busses this year.
I stopped at the gas station on my way home from work to pick up a snacky, and met the guy who rides his motorcycle around in the winter with a sidecar. He was wearing a cowboy hat with a sherrif's badge on it, and the clerk asked him how his bike was running. I turned around and asked if he was the one with the sidecar and he looked at me ruefully and said "I HATE cars, man. ...unless they're old and cool. But I LOVE my sidecar." I supplied that there was no way my bike would start in this weather. He said I need a kickstarter.
Lowertown is full of beautiful freaks, truly.
