[livejournal.com profile] star5 mentioned the Johnny Cash covers, and then Omaha did too.

I think my favorite is "One". I find the man in black's version far superior to the original, in fact.

Is it getting better?
Or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you now?
You got someone to blame
You say
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One

Have you come here for forgiveness?
Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus?
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much?
More than a lot.
You gave me nothing,
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One

I didn't make any music this weekend.

I think some is very ready to come out.

I also think that if it isn't an official new years resolution yet, that I will make one now to sing more.

It's quite past my bedtime.

I know that things are getting tougher
When you can't get the top off from the bottom of the barrel.
Wide open road of my future now... It's looking fucking narrow.

All I know is that I don't know
All I know is that I don't know nothing

We get told to decide
Just like as if I'm not gonna change my mind.

All I know is that I don't know
All I know is that I don't know nothing

Whatcha gonna do with yourself,
Boy better make up your mind.
Whatcha gonna do with yourself boy,
You're running out of time.

This time I got it all figured out

All I know is that I don't know
All I know is that I don't know nothing

And that's fine

OpIvy in 1989.

In 1989, I would have been 11. I lived in the suburbs and took piano lessons and wanted a dog or a cat or especially a horse more than anything else in the world.

When I think of OpIvy, I mostly think of the year 1996 and my plaid pleated skirt and my first pair of combat boots and black knee socks and skankin' mosh pits. I was dating [livejournal.com profile] vaxjo and learned that geeks and misanthropy were (supposedly) cool. I had hair down to my waist and I lived in stadium village and took the bus downtown to my job in the warehouse district.

I hadn't met the people I now consider my best friends yet.

A lot's happened since then.

I wonder what I'll be up to come 2016.
