My Responsible Weekend

Friday, I was a good girl and went to the doctor. Saturday was breakfast and responsible music making followed up by Celia's birthday shindig, wherein I was the responsible sober driver for an exciting DUI adventure as well as for the way home. Sunday was taxes and paying the motorcycle insurance before it lapsed, and off to derby practice. I really should keep the ball rolling and get the oil changed in the cars this afternoon...

I'm also getting a bunch of stuff done at work today (funny how my boss's signature on a few things suddenly triples the amount of stuff I can get done/have to do.)

Because I spent my first full calendar year at a job that pays a living wage last year, I'm getting a refund of significantly more than $20 this year. I am super excited about that, and plan on squandering it on at least two only vaguely responsible items: a new pair of speedy skates and a motorcycle helmet that fits. Yes, I am Wild and Crazy. I may yet even buy a few pairs of socks without holes in them- stay tuned. My ulterior motive with the new skates is having a decent pair that I can keep outdoor wheels on for the summer. I know myself well enough that the whole swapping indoor/outdoor wheels business would keep me from skating outside as much as I'd like to once it's nice out.

(Shhh. It's mostly my rationalization to get new skateys. ;) ) But it really would be so nice to just grab 'n' go... Depending on where I move I might start skating to work, too... That would get to be a lot of 5 and 10 minute swaps adding up with 2/3 practices a week wanting indoor wheels. I'm also super slow at changing out bearings- I bought a new set so I have some to keep in my outdoor wheels- but before when I had to change wheels I had to swap bearings at the same time and it took me what seemed like a really long time.

I hear ya. Bearings do take a lot longer than you'd think... they're troublesome things, to be sure.

Good luck hunting... what're you looking to get?
