I awoke early this morning to sounds of someone or something moving about in our apartment. This kinda freaked me out. Wrapped in a blanket and squinting, I realized soon that it was a bird, thumping and flapping against our skylight in a shower of dust and feathers, trying to get back out again. Poor thing can't find the two inches of open window through which it managed to sneak in.
It's pretty big, too, about twice the size of a sparrow, maybe the size of a smaller pidgeon, but it's not either of those. Maybe a thrush?

We're pretty stumped as to how to get it out. Our ceilings are ~15' high, which makes this difficult. We put some water and sunflower seeds on the sill, hoping to encourage it, but no luck. Every 10 minutes or so it makes another futile attempt at getting out via the skylight.

Any suggestions?

Drat. That does make sense, more or less. I hope the bird gets tired and lets you remove it from your apartment before it does serious damage to itself.

Incidentally, I can't wait to see your new place!
