I'm starting to really like my studio a lot. Which is important, as I really want to make it be somewhere that I want to spend time. The really nice thing about loft living is having more freedom to use as much or as little space for various things as you want. I also really like that I get natural light, unlike my old closet-y space.
The drawback, though, is not having the security of walls. I find I really really dislike working on stuff so "out in the open", especially when S4's home. While I like this setup far more than what I had before, when I had my little closet space it was much easier to put the rest of the house and any other people in it out of sight and (mostly) out of mind. I hope I start to get more used to it. I'd still like to have more separation between me and the general living space, though, so I'm going to keep my eye out for some screens or other kinds of room dividers.
I hung up my lights today. I got new bulbs, and I think they're different from the old ones, 'cause they're really bright.

I swapped the spots for my laptop and my knobbox, and I think it works better.
MIDI is working pretty well today. Don't tell it I said that, though, or it will stop, just to spite me. MIDI is a fickle little bitch sometimes.
I also pressed my old PC into studio service; I'm going to use it to record. A wee bit superfluous, perhaps, but it'll be really nice to not have to worry about swapping my routing and just being able to press record at a moments notice when I'm using the lappy as a sound source. Plus I already had it hanging around not doing much but taking up space in the kitchen. This way I'll have PC aps that I miss hanging around too, if I wanna poke around at them.

I brought the ion into the shop today, finally. Hope it's not too expensive.

Still haven't put anything up on the walls yet, but here's a pic:

i have a small room divider if you're interested in it (painted wood, purple rather see through-ish fabric, like the olden days!). but, i also saw some lovely fabric dividers that hang from the ceiling at ikea.

we are getting that organized for ourselves right now, too.
the shmacy herman miller chairs arrived, so now we have a very shmancy place to put our butts down and make stuff. woo!

i think you should sew yourself up some curtains to divide off your space. :)
