I haven't been writing much. I'm not sure exactly why, except maybe that for the last several weeks my lj was centered around performances or parties or that kind of thing and using this to tell you my whereabouts instead of telling you anything... more... journally. I start writing about what I've been up to and it just seems really boring to anyone who's not me. But, since I'm here, and ostensibly some of you are interested, life is... full of stuff, and pretty cool.
Life is feeling back to normal post holiday craziness. I've been in a good mood more often than not, lately. Derby started up and it's good to be getting regular exercise again.
Work is busy, but good.
House is nice, especially now that we cashed in our ikea gift cards, fixed the door mixup, and have another closet section to put crap into. Yay!
Derby is, right now, squarely on the fun side of the ever shifting fun-stress continuum. I even got up super early on Sunday to scrimmage the North Star girls and that was lots of fun, especially getting to see my favorite ex-Beaders Lady Snowblood and her man, and Granny Panties. My teammates are great, everyone is showing up to practice (hell, 90% showed up for the optional stupidearly sunday morning), working really hard, and feeling cohesive. We're all really excited to play together for the bout. Today is also a red letter day in skateyland, as it is the first day that I wore my new skates for a full practice without any anti-blister anything, and didn't get new blisters. Yes, this is exciting. Shutup. I ordered myself some new wheels to go with my new skates, and they should show up by the end of the week, so I'll have time to get used to them before the bout.
Music related stuff- my shows went well. I have two more scheduled for February, which is cool, one on the 2nd at the kitty cat klub again and one for the Spark Festival. I want to focus on making more songs, since I've pretty much been spitting out the same set for a while. I spent Friday night recording for a film score, which went well. I'll probably have to do one more session, and that will be wrapped up. Then I can focus more attention on the other film score and make more headway on that. I'm also working on a grant proposal that's due at the beginning of February. I've applied for big grants before, but never had much hope of actually getting them (and I didn't.) I'm much more aware than I used to be of what made my applications for those grants weak. Working for a place that, among other things, helps people write grants is pretty cool that way. If I put the work in, I feel like I'd have a good shot at getting this. That would be really awesome. And because I don't want to jinx myself, that's all I'm going to say about that.
Oh, boy, sleep! That's where I'm a Viking!
