Weeeooo, snow! That is so much snow! I like snow. I even like driving in the snow, except for the having other cars around to hit and the getting stuck parts. But I'm a Minnesota girl at heart, so this makes me happy. I haven't been skiing since junior high and would really love to go sometime. Maybe on Sunday if I'm not too knackered from playing derby on Saturday night and I can convince S4 that he wants to come along.

I'm sort of pretending to work today. I was tasked with making a myspace account for my office (no, really), so I'm actually fucking around online on the clock completely legitimately while watching enormous flakes of white stuff blow around outside my window. How bizzare are organizational myspace pages? I'm "friending" the Guthrie, the Minnesota State Arts Board, Americans for the Arts, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts... it's weird. Especially since myspace makes you pick an age and gender. I've never really considered the age, gender, or relationship status of the Minnesota State Arts Board before, but now I know!

I chatted with California-friend Gadget last night. It's a rare thing that we are both online at the same time, so that was a treat. I learned that Californians (or at least this Californian) are not familiar with March as "in like a lion, out like a lamb", which makes sense but had not dawned on me as a Midwestern cultural reference.

I exchanged some email with a new Spark Festival cohort, who gave me a photo of my performance on Thursday night and also said he'd likely play some of my music on his radio show next week: http://www.rtqe.net
Yay!
Hmm, contact in Madison, contact in Chicago... perhaps a mini-tour is imminent...

Poking around on his sites also led me to discover the existence of the Oblique Strategies. Why, oh why, have I never heard of this before? And I've called myself an Eno fan. Honestly. I'm not sure whether I should make my own set or buy them, but I am enthralled with these and now must have some for my very own.

I went to my orientation session at Hourcar last night, where I watched a powerpoint about how to drive a Prius and signed some things and was given a complimentary tee shirt and my key-fob. I am now authorized to pilot any of the 17 Twin Cities hybrid carshare fleet. There's another checkbox ticked on my hippie street cred scorecard. (I'm starting to run out of cooperatively-run things to join up with in this town- crap, even my sport of choice has a co-op spirit behind it.) The cars are all stamped with "Kick Gas" on them. Cute. The tee shirt, while I tend to avoid things with logos, is pretty inoffensive- it's even girl-cut and might be called cute. Kudos to them, I might wear it not-as-pyjamas or even in public. I also found out there are two hubs easily in walking distance rather than just the one I knew about. Neat-o.

Derby practice was small but fun. Our team bought wrestling-style pads to practice on, so we can smack into each other with (even more) impunity. Fun!

Okay. I should really do some actual work now.
