I'm thinking of getting a 1" button maker; I think I have enough applications to make buttons that it would be a fun little thingy to have around. Anyone use them, or have any experience with them? There seems to be a wide range of prices on them, and I'd like to get something that works but doesn't cost hundreds of dollars.

We bought one for ATPH a few years ago. Its a fantastic little doo-dad, and it paid for itself in a few months. We were making buttons for several other friends' bands and charging super cheap so they could mark up to $1 and make some cash at shows.

We bought ours here, and they are handy for the supplies later on as well-

We bought one of these-

It is a nice heavy duty piece of equipment, and works great.

I think the one that Sarah has is the same as above, the Model 100. It is also the one I have been wanting (but have never been able to justify) for years!

I have one that the league bought. I get to keep it cause I'm the merch girl. Its a super fun toy. Buy a decent one and get the hole punch. It'll be worth it. They are a bit expensive but you can probably pimp out your button maker skills and make your money back. It only costs thi $.04 per button for the parts I think, if you buy like 1000 parts.
