good thing/annoying thing

spacebugWe went to the co-op last night, so I had lots of yummy choices for lunch today, which I love.
There are the best things ever at Mississippi Market right now- little avocados! They are the perfect single-serving-sized avocado and they are six for a dollar. I bought a dozen. I don't know why these things didn't enter my life years and years ago because they are rad. I can only hope they aren't some ordering mistake or horticultural oddity that goes away, because I LOVE THEM. All of my friends in California can probably get regular-sized avocados six for a dollar, but here in Midwestern-land they are at least a dollar a piece, and often twice that if you want to get something organic. I usually only really want a half of a regular sized avocado, and even then that's kind of a lot to smush onto a sammich, even for an avocado aficionado like me. And woe is the one who tries to keep an avocado more than five minutes past the time you cut it open, what with all that gray stringy nastiness happening if you dare stop to blink. Wee avocados rule!!
Now that the construction is done on our wall, they're in the process of a chemical wash. The chemicals involved apparently etch glass, so they had to seal up the outside of our windows with plastic while this process happens. This means no open windows and no air conditioning on the 5th floor warehouse space during the hottest, most humid weather. Awesome. I'm posting at work when I could go home because I'm loathe to go back to my saunafied house.
