I hadn't revisited tracks that I'd worked on earlier for a while. I found still more samples that got eaten from when I transitioned from Live v5 to v6 and my libraries got all FUBARed.
Fortunately this time I only have to recreate three gameboy loops. I got two, I have to re-do one other one.

Someday soon I hope to stop playing catch up and start actually moving forward. Between needing to recreate stuff that got lost and needing to find/create patches that can substitute for my synth that died, I'm really, really starting to get sick of my current catalog. In light of this, I think it may be for the best that the Spark fest rejected my submission, even though it bums me out to not play this year. I'd hoped to find my feet by February with all the new stuff I need to get together for a live set, but now it's kind of nice to just keep working on what I've been plugging away on without having an imminent performance to stress out about. I also have some pretty well-founded fears that my little lappy just doesn't have the processing power to stay afloat with the way I want to use it now. So, I might be looking at selling it to upgrade, if I can afford it. We'll see.

Otherwise, I feel like I've made some good progress this week. Taking a step back from the tracks in favor of webdesign was a nice change of pace.

I've been tracking and getting a buncha stuff done. I'm kinda sick of it though, so I'm taking a little holiday from it. It's been nice to work on piano more. I got together with the drummer from Anode Glow the other day and we just played for an hour or two straight, just for the helluvit. I was thinking about recording, but I didn't get to it cuz time constraints, but was really fun to just, yaknow, play.

The video editing has been a big focus too. Its nice to exercise new skills/brain muscles.

Still sometimes when I've gone through a dry patch with a particular instrument, when I come back to it, I noticed that somehow I've improved, or synthesized something new into my style.

To me, reflective time can't be figured enough into the creative process.

That kind of crap is what made me eventually give up on electronic music. I'd spend hours and hours making something sound cool only to have it get all screwed up in a few months without me understanding what had happened. Plus every new program was really hard to learn and that nothing seemed to want to work together or even work by itself the way it was advertised. Oh, and midi is stupid. Your perserverence is impressive.
