truly truly truly outrageous.

I just got my birthday present from my super-awesome brother and his super awesome-girlfriend. Actually, maybe I should say they are more like truly, truly, truly outrageous:

Dude, [livejournal.com profile] r0ckc4ndy, I am totally ready to rock!

It's not my birthday for two more days, but who can get a present delivered right to their door and not open it? Not me!

Because I promised, here's another myspace-worthy self-shot of my new haircut:

And, for [livejournal.com profile] harfang and anyone else who might be interested in basically what my studio looks like:

except I'm not using the big black rack case there.

Seriously! Truly TRULY outrageous! *jealous* (although of course I don't know how to wear a t-shirt).
Is that the 2nd pink thing you own now?

[identity profile] spacebug.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
It's more lavender. But yeah, I think it's the 2nd pastel thing i own!

Man, I was just thinking about Jem the other day and how she paved the way for people to color their hair even if they aren't the villain! :)

you are truly outrageous!

Oh my GAWD. I loved your dreads so I never thought I'd say this; but you need to KEEP you hair like that till you DIE. So much awesome.

Thanks for the studio pr0n. Just to be a bigger pain, I'll say I wish I could see your posters better. ;) I like how the studio is sparse but slightly cluttered. It looks vaguely threatening, like in a take-over-the-planet way. ...Dangit, your Opus is bigger than mine!!

[identity profile] harfang.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
oh, and hey - do you have any Misfits tapes? Not the real Misfits, but the Jem ones?

[identity profile] spacebug.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the hair. Except that short hair is way colder in a MN December! Hats fit better now, though, so I think it all evens out.
I think Opus might look bigger than he is from the perspective, he's a pretty little guy, probably 8" high or so. The monitor he's sitting on is a Yamaha NS-10, if that helps.

The posters, clockwise from top left are promo poster from the Spark festival last year;2 derby bout posters; derby program; bulliten board with promo stuff/clippings from shows I've played, my number from the St. Paul skate marathon, a page from a Brian Froud calendar, and photos of my ladies Meg Lee Chin, Laurie Anderson, And Delia Derbyshire; 2 b&w 8x10s of a friend's photography project, falling down "Attack of the Killer Derby Girls" bout poster, falling down pirate treasure map that S4 got for me when he was in Puerto Rico, Burning Man street map from 2006, and a poster from my 2nd solo show ever at the Dinkytowner. The grey rectangle is my very exciting circuit breaker box. :)

dude, I had no idea roller derby posters could be so spiffy-lookin'. I guess I should've guessed. Your solo show poster is gorgeous.

Although I should prolly have guessed this as well, I didn't know Yamaha made monitors. On planet me, even though I never play my saxophone anymore, I tend to think of Yamaha as "those guys that make the tinny horns." (The positive version of that view is that they have a very "bright" sound.) So it's good to be reminded that they're important...

ETA: Yeah, ever since my haircut I've been almost as cold as the average person, and I'm usually very hot-blooded. It feels way different.

The posters are pretty cool. I kind of wish I'd been collecting more of them, as they're handmade in limited runs so it's hard to get them after the fact.
Yeah, besides 6th-grader band instruments (which I still play, kinda sadly), they wrote the book (http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Reinforcement-Handbook-Gary-Davis/dp/0881889008) on sound reinforcement, and they made a decent motorcycle.

Wow--I didn't recognize you at all in the first picture! I haven't seen you in far too long.
That haircut (and color!) is amazing--it looks perfect on you!
