January: I keep getting this weird illusion that I'm "just about caught up", only to realize something else has piled up while I was getting caught up.
February: I turned in my grant proposal.
March: Weeeooo, snow!
April: S4 and I headed out to Sioux Falls to see their new derby league's first bout.
May: There are workers on scaffolding outside my window right now.
June: Well, nothing quite spices up the night before you're supposed to travel like emergency surgery.
July: The output circut totally fried on the Ion.
August: I didn't make the 2nd string derby interleague team, either.
September: S4 and I are, after a 2-3 hour wait for exodus and the ensuing ~30 hour drive from Black Rock, back in St. Paul again safely.
October: I've just come out the other side of what feels like one of the longer and crazier bouts of PMS ever.
November:While they lack the aesthetic and adventurous appeal of, say, the rocket cars, jet packs, or moon colonies I'm sure many of you like me all wanted to have readily accessible to the populace at large by late 2007, I gotta say I loves me some automatic deposits and online bill pay.
December:I don't wanna work today. I wanna go home and make cookies and watch Twin Peaks and take a nap.

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Opened a Roth IRA. Cut off my dreadlocks. Drove to Burning Man. (I've gone, but never been responsible for any driving.) Spoke on a panel with Morton Subotnick. Helped install the Sensorium for the Spark Festival. Participated in two grant review panels. Turned 30. Travelled specifically to play a sport.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes, some of them. And yes.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Henry, Devin, and Madeline all made the scene. And little June! How could I forget June?
So many babies!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
S4's grandpa died. He wasn't very close to me, but what I knew of him I liked. He was an understated prankster and a kind of noble midwestern farmer archetype that seems rare these days. He reminded me of my own grandpa who died a few years ago in a lot of ways.

5. What countries did you visit?
I sorely need to leave American soil again at some point. Came close to going to Mexico, but it was not to be. Burning Man feels like another planet, so that's as close as I get some years. Visited New Mexico for the first time.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A Rockits championship. A music setup I'm confident with. A finished album and a finished film score.

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Nothing huge stands out personally, I guess August 1st, for the bridge collapse.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not sure. The Spark festival was really great for me this year, though. I also seem to have gotten over a personal weirdness/resentment I'd been harboring, which feels really nice.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Nothing is really eating at me. I'll have to think about it. My show at Burning Man was pretty disappointing, but I don't know that it's "my biggest failure", likewise not making the interleague team...

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing big.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought my first "nice" car. And my piano-controller.

Okay. I just realized this thing has 40 questions, and there's other stuff I want to do today. So, maybe I'll pick up later, but if not, there's 11.

Happy New Year!
