heeep.

Okay, friends who are smarter at 'puter networking things than me...

We all connect the old fashioned way, with cat5 to the wall. I think we have everything we need for this, it just hasn't been set up.

We have a wireless DSL Gateway. I found its IP address, and have tried to connect both directly to its IP address via a web browser and to the "web interface" address referenced in its FAQ. When I try the IP address, I'm prompted for a username and password. What the FAQ says the default is doesn't work. I made a pokey and pressed the reset, which supposedly brings it back it to its default settings, but it still didn't work. When I try to connect to the "web interface", I get a timed out connection.

We got the thing directly from our ISP - would that give this thing a different default UN/PW?

Thanks for any suggestions...

Sometimes, the reset buttons require to be held in for a full 10 seconds to actually take effect. Also, what's the brand and model of the thing?

Another thing to check. Is there anything else between you and the gateway? Additional routers/hubs/switches/firewalls?
