Motorcycle got impounded. I didn't know it was illegal to park on the street without moving for over 72 hours. Live and learn.
So. One tow, one day of storage, 1 parking ticket, 1 condescending mechanic (Dude, yes, I *know* it's an old bike. You specialize in old bikes. I like old bikes, I didn't buy it just because I don't have lots of money...) and lots of Jarrin's help later, my motorbike is in the shop. I think the mechanic just didn't want me to get my hopes up too much, but from the way he's talking I'm starting to wonder if I would have saved a lot of money and bother and just let it stay the city of Minneapolis's problem. Blurgh.
So, a quick wrap up before I head out to another fun filled meeting: I got my bike impounded, S4 lost his housekeys, and Sithlet just told me she locked hers in her car. I think someone is jinxed.

Motorcycle repair guys are always glum and pessimistic, I think. Perhaps they would all prefer to be working on the young and flashy bikes. Its part of the reason I got rid of mine (that, and motorcycle repair people are scarce as hen's teeth in these parts, it would seem).

that sucks mightilly.
presumably your mechanic is smart enough to look into this...
and things might be different out there...
but bikes are often damaged in tows... since the mensa who do towing for cities... 1 are less used to dealing with lifting and moving bikes, 2 its more complicated to lift a bike, 3 they usually have the gear to lift cars, and not bikes. 4 bikes are smaller and more delicate....
so plz make sure outside of looking at the engine, your mechanic looks for strain on the frame, and forks...bent pegs & levers...
both because it would be sad if if got tuned-up but was still busted & unsafe, but also because you can bill the city for that damage (well we can anyway) but you need to do it quickly
