Leapy.

I had a really, really great weekend. Like, the kind that almost makes you glad to go back to work on Monday just to get grounded and to have a point of comparasin to how much more fun fun can be than work.
Almost.

Okay, not really.

I'd rather be back in bed, but I did wake up feeling more rested than I thought I would, so, there's pleasure in small victories, yes.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see Low Orbit at the Kitty Cat Klub. There was a pretty great turnout. Two paying gigs in two weeks, dang, I'm starting to feel like I'm a musician or something. We had a good time, despite the mic (coincidentally, the one thing we sent to our sound guy, who was really reluctant about the fact that we generally sub-mix all of our weird shit and just send the house a stereo mix.) I understand the want for control of sound from the house and everything, but the complications rather reiterated that we're okay doing it the way we do it. We both know what feedback is, where it comes from, and how to stop it on our own...

Saturday, after a blissful bout of staying-in-bed-as-long-as-my-body-damn-well-pleases, I got breakfast at the Triple Rock. Upon finishing my late breakfast and tallying up our bill, I got a call from [livejournal.com profile] djnoise:

"Hello?"

"Uhm... Hi Caly. What are you doing right now?"

"I'm paying my breakfast tab. Why?"

"Could you do me a favor?"

"Uhm. Sure, what do you need?"

"Some propane for a blowtorch... a metric fuckton of heavy-duty black duct tape, and... some really wide masking tape..."

"Okay, I'll be there in a little bit."

And that's how I found out just how much effort was going into the preparations at the VIP room. I brought the bag of assorted stuff, and then stuck around to help decorate, because, you know, I don't get to hang enough black plastic at the Space Lounge. Had much fun with [livejournal.com profile] ethel, painting alien eggs and attempting to use a miter box correctly.

I returned, after getting all dressed up, to a fabulously decorated room that was already filling with a crowd well before 10pm. Tons of people came out of the woodwork to bid Kobalt farewell. It was really, really fun. I will be sad on Saturday when it is no longer there.

Sunday I woke up, sore, and after not nearly enough sleep, when S4 went to work. Had a lazy day of mostly eating and napping with [livejournal.com profile] star5, [livejournal.com profile] djnoise, and [livejournal.com profile] rahna, with some movies a bit later on. I fell asleep for most of them. I liked what I saw of the Returner, I think I'll have to watch that again when I'm able to retain consciousness for the whole thing.

This morning, at 7:12 am, I ordered tickets to Burning Man for s4 and I. Yay.

In closing, I like my new blue fake dreads.

The end.

Monte and I just purchased our Burning Man tickets. So, we're definitely going now! I'm excited!! A bit trepidatious, but in a good way.

Woohoo! It's always great to have a few newbies for the hazi... I mean, to introduce to a great event... :)

Oh, I am feelin' the luuuv.

We should, at some point, have a get-together and work out not just technical specifications, but also have a personality check-in. Y'know, communication styles, pet peeves, preferred wake-up method...the general "how not to drive each other crazy" stuff.

Being an outgoing, brazen, outspoken-yet-shy person, I get paranoid about bugging people, so I always like to check-in on that stuff.
And I hate it when I find out that (through ignorance) I wasn't pulling my weight in joint-ventures, and resentment festered.

I need to get a bike!

yah, not a bad idea. Generally, our camp is deliciously drama-free. Yay, us! The core group of us know each other well enough that it just kinda works out, and people pretty much do their own thing. We kind of magically all return to camp at around the same time for dinner (about sundown). But, we may have a big ol' group this year, and we might be joining with an even bigger camp, so logistics might be interesting this year. But exciting, too. As for preferred wake-up method- There's not a big choice on that one. You wake up when desert sun starts cooking you inside your tent. Then you putter around half awake until Skaht makes yummy breakfast and the water truck comes for your bath. :)
