Busy

In the last couple days, I've been really busy working on con stuff, and feeling strangely fortunate that I don't have a job. The crunch is on, and I really want to just be calm this year and not have to be stressed out about things and have things work and just be fine, and not leave the con feeling like it was more work than play, which is how a lot of us felt last year, I think. Con last year was weird and stressful and emotional for me in a lot of strange ways and I'd really appreciate just having FUN among the working and everything this year if at all possible. So. That said, tomorrow I'll be trying to finish a sensorium collage or two and finish the Low Orbit limited edition mini cd, and clean some stuff and do some laundry and if I'm lucky get a sewing project going and maybe I'll just screw a lot of this stuff and play Myst in my pyjamas instead and just not worry about it and enjoy one of the last chunks of time I'll have by myself for a while. While I'm typically pretty extroverted and like being around other people most of the time, sometimes Con gets to be a lot of people for a long time. Maybe this year I'll fare better having had days more or less to myself more often lately what with the unemployment.

Today I went to the dentist for the first time in three years, in preparation for very expensive dental work. My Mom wants to buy me new teeth.

Rather, she wants to buy me porcelain veneers for some of my teeth. While I have other ways I'd sooner spend that much money on me, I won't say no. (spacebug funfact #1- my teeth are really soft compared to normal people's teeth due to being a premie.)
I found out I had three cavities. (spacebug funfact #2- despite my weird soft teeth, I'd never had any cavities until this year!) There was an appointment open for the cavities after my cleaning, so I spent the bulk of my afternoon in a dentist's chair, and a chunk of my evening being introduced to the fun-filled world of novocaine and its magic ability to make talking and eating more difficult. The verdict: 2.5 years of orthodontics were far worse than cavities are.

Practiced with r4c tonight, got some emails out about Space Lounge music stuff, and am presently enjoying a frozen pizza. It is exactly what I wanted to eat right now.

I'm tired.

Good luck with your teeth. I've never heard of porcelain veneers for teeth - they sound fragile and expensive. What are they, exactly?

I never had a cavity in my whole life until two years ago... I think it's because they stop putting that preventative seal on your teeth when you get older, but from now on (well, as soon as I get dental insurance again) I'm asking for it.

I think I'm going to ConLite on Sat. night for the pool parties - perhaps I will see you?
