Con was a good time this year. There is still a small part of me that misses actually going to a con instead of working at one the whole time, but putting on the Space Lounge is really fun too. s4 and I are thinking we should check out Anime Detour just to see something different, somewhere we could stay up all night and be silly without worrying about huge load outs or having to be responsible the next day.

Highlights-

-Pretty much all of Friday night in the Space Lounge. It was a party in there! Low Orbit played and it was really fun, got to see Karlyn play viola, :| krew showed up and rocked out and didn't break anything, the dj sets were all great. WoO! And then late at night we had a whole bunch of people just lounging around and listening to the Sensorium, which was cool, too.

-Managed to see a whole movie in Rex for the first time since... ever?

-Saturday night dancing and silliness

So, now it's time to clean up our apartment and start thinking about Burning Man. I want to get the sewing done I didn't get done for con, and I think I'm ready to buckle under and buy some patterns. Anyone have tips on where to get cheap patterns? I know that there are sales and things...

If you want to borrow any of my patterns you can - most of them are kind of costumey fairy-tale gothy renaissance stuff, I suppose.

JoAnn's currently (through July 24) has patterns on sale: McCall's & Butterick are 99 cents, Simplicity are $1.99, and Vogue are 75% off.

hey!

If you're going to JoAnne's, give me a call - i've got some things to get there and there's a giant one in Edina!

I lovelovelove the Space Lounge. I'd like to help out more next year. Mostly all I could do is carry stuff and maybe tend bar a little though. I doubt you guys would want me monkeying around with the equipment anyway. :)

putting it on vs. attending

I for one would do anything A-NY-THING to make it so we can *attend* events more. I think we're just going to get more and more volunteers as it catches on (we had more last year than the year before, and more this year than last). It could be pretty sweet to be able to take head/subhead shifts where we're more like "on call" than "present and accounted for". Especially if my master plan to get the family to the convention works, I'm going to want to spend time outside the lounge too.

But this year, it did feel like we were able to leave if we wanted to (I kept finding myself hanging around the space lounge- it WAS a party in there!)
