Nevermind about my co-worker's would-be cat.

I'm feeling like I worded things badly, making her sound like a financially irresponsible person who shouldn't own pets which wasn't what I was going for at all.

I was going to try and be nice, but maybe it's not as good an idea as it sounded like in my head.

Disregard the spacebug behind the curtain, and go back to your regularly scheduled lj.

A post I made earlier about wanting to help my coworker buy a kitten. It felt weird, I deleted it. Sorry for the confusion.

Is this the coworker I met who kept her old cat in the freezer?

Yep, same one. It wasn't actually *her* freezer, it was her parents' spare freezer. Man, that makes her sound terrible. You could at least mention she didn't keep her cat in there 'til he had died. :P

I don't think you sounded that way at all...to me she sounded like a really responsible pet owner who would love a kitty, but having worked at at the clinic for a while, I see kitties pile up bills within the first few days all the time. I just didn't want to see your coworker get in a similar situation and beat herself up over it.

She's in her 40's, and has owned more than one cat for its lifetime. I appreciate the concern and realized right away where it came from for you, but respectfully, she would know what she was signing on for. I also implied that she didn't have any money, which I don't think is true, she's just frugal and probably a little scared of replacing an old friend that she was really attached to. It wasn't nearly as much about money as it was about being a nice surprise, but it immediately started feeling strange and wrong to solicit people she's never met to be involved in it.

well, I didn't mean to sound all grinchy either. if she's not quite ready to get the kitty yet, though, it might not be the best present.

you are a good-hearted and loving girl and we don't think of you any other way. so there.
