Ethel wants content. Content is the same as content, as in happy and satisfied. Content with content. Or, swap that syllabic emphasis and have it be content with content. Yep. Your pick.
Feelin' kinda punchy.

I'm only posting to keep from doing more productive things at work, so I don't know how amusing this will be, all, but hey, at least it's not a meme, meme-haters! I don't quite get the instant memerage or quizrage, kids. It's livejournal. It's almost ALL fluffy. So I didn't friend you back. So you didn't friend me back. Guess what? I DON'T CARE!

Anyway.
C isn't in yet and K was feeling sick so she went upstairs (she lives in the building) for a rest. The auditors that are normally waiting at the door this week when I get here (even when I'm early!) weren't here, and the boss lady's not coming in today. So, I'm here ALLLLLL by myself. The auditors with their earliness are starting to freak me out. One was camped out sitting on the floor with her laptop out, looking like she'd been here for hours waiting for me to unlock the door. I said I'm here at 9! It's 8:45! I guess they just can't wait to give me more piles of old checks to find. The sordid organization around here gets highlighted quickly when we're made to dredge up important records that should be easy to find. I take a small bit of pride that the only checks I wasn't able to locate were ones that came before me.
Talking about the audit. Yes, I know how to keep an audience, thanks. WoohoO!

What else happens around here? Yesterday a homeless guy with a laptop came in. He seemed pretty bright and funny, more homeless out of choice than circumstance, or sort of a combination, laughing at the irony of being a homeless laptop musician. He was talking about his hip-hop/classical combo stuff that honestly seems pretty interesting, and asked us if he could get information about grants. K sagely advised that it helps a lot to have an address to get grants.

Yesterday I ate a lot of ethiopian food and it was good. Then we subjected more people to what happened 10 years ago when [livejournal.com profile] vaxjo and [livejournal.com profile] thaadd and [livejournal.com profile] happydoc and some others got the bright idea to make a cable access show. Boy, was my hair long. And I was even skinnier! Seeing myself in high school is beginning to make me feel old. I'm not old yet, damnit.

Still haven't heard for really real that we have the new apartment, and I'm getting annoyed, since we gave notice at our current place and agreed to move in on, you know, Monday, and they were the ones all picky about wanting someone for November when we said we'd rather move in December. I called the dude yesterday and he called the office but apparently the office doesn't know yet because he didn't call me back. They haven't called here to verify my employment, either, and I'd know since, well, I'm the receptionist. I'm wondering if the $45 background check fee is really just a big hoax, but if that's the case and they're just skipping it altogether to collect some cash, why couldn't they have let us know like, last week that we were cool? After all, we have decent jobs and good rental histories even if the credit's a little wonky for the boy. I might call today and let 'em know that if we aren't informed by the time they said we'd know that we'd just not start paying rent 'til December thankyouverymuch, but maybe that's not the way to endear oneself to people with their finger at the big red button of where I'm planning to spend at least the next year of my life. (sigh) I really want to leave out ittybitty place with no heat and get on with awesomeifying the new place, even though it means I won't be hopskipjump distance from [livejournal.com profile] star5 and [livejournal.com profile] djnoise and the Spyhouse and the Wedge and the Jasmine Deli and the whole of Uptown, really. I will miss all of those things a LOT, but it is more than balanced out by the coming coolness. I want a warehouseyspacewarming party! I want to shop for new house things, already!

Okay, I should do something productive or something.

Fine to hate them, I just don't really understand it. Skip it, don't read it, don't propagate it, whatever. I put the ones I choose to do behind a cut tag for people who have a problem. I just don't really see any huge difference between the banality of "post this meaningless thing in your journal too" and "this was my grocery list on Sunday", ya know?

I do see your point, but I do see a difference between, "Here's what I bought at the store," and "Quick, everyone post what you bought at the store."

I just don't understand the meme phenomenon, just like I didn't understand hammer pants and impractical boots. If I posted about how silly I find impractical boots, no one would have a problem, and [livejournal.com profile] sxoidmal would probably rant parallel.
