Oh, it is totally a hip town, I actually really like it (we live 6 hours a way and have visited it several times) and have considered moving there. So I wasn't meaning to dis Atlanta (or "HOTlanta" as we affectionately call it). Its just kinda short on public amenities to my eye, like large libraries and public internet access (a couple of years ago we had to resort to Kinkos downtown for internet access). And I can only remember one bookstore, which was nice, but I'd have thought to see more. So it doesn't strike me as "bookish" territory. Which is why I was surprised to see it on the list. Totally cool town though.
And Athens is only a couple of hours away, and that college town rules as well.

Anyways, Atlanta is supposed to be a pretty hip town in the middle of awful. Kinda like Austin. So, I'm not terribly surprised that it's up there.
